Well, after we slept very well and had a good breakfast in Sepilok our journey went on: At 7:30 a.m. (much too early...) a mini bus took us to the Sandakan Yacht Club where the speed boat to Lankayan already was being loaded. A nice, clean and fairly new boat with two outboard-engines with 250 horsepower each. This ride was tolerable even for me, usually I get sea sick just by looking at a boat. But not this time - it was a fast and smooth ride. But do be careful: I got a heavy sun burn on my right arm which was hanging outside the shade during that ride - so do not forget the use your sun blockers or wear a long sleeve shirt...!

2 x 250 horsepower provided a smooth and fast (1:45) trip to Lankayan

When our boat arrived at the jetty in Lankayan we were greeted very warmly by some people who we would get to know during the next three weeks. Our luggage was taken care of and we were led to the main building, where we were offered a cold juice, had to fill out some paperwork (this "no-liability-legalese-thing" from PADI you might know) and then were shown our bungalow.
That was even better than expected: open your front door, walk 5 steps and you are on a white sandy beach with no other people around! A huge, clean bungalow with hot shower and a great view - what else could anyone ask for?
Our home for the next 17 days

Yeah, kick off your shoes - you won't need them as long as you are here,
find the swimming trunks in the luggage and jump into the warm waters of the Sulu Sea!
Next was unpacking our stuff and bringing our diving equipment to the dive center, which is located at the end of the jetty (where else?).
I'll tell you something about that on the next page...
